The Duality of
I've had this dream. I'm standing at the edge of a cliff, at the bottom, there isn't anything but endless void. I stare down the abyss, and all of a sudden my left hand starts to pull me down, but my right hand pulls away from the edge, canceling each other out. To be at the precipice of a decision, a crossroads which outcomes may very well be devastating, could be difficult to sway to the side you know is true. The fear could be debilitating, maybe daunting? Have you ever pretended to be someone else around your family just to avoid conflict?
The Gentle Knock
The Gentle Knock is about the collapse of the family unit with the loss of a loved one. The characters express themselves through a “modern-Shakespearean verse” style to convey the level of their grief. The play explores unhealthy family dynamics, unhealthy coping mechanisms, and the conflicting desire to want everything at a distance, but also hold onto everything tightly close.
The Self
The internal dialogue someone goes through during an existential crisis, doubting the existence of reality, doubting if anything means anything.
